Two Fabulous Dresses April 23, 2007

First up, the springy Emma in Green from TART:

tart.jpg

Nothing I could possibly say would top the subtle perfection of this dress. But, I love it so much, I can’t shut up about it. Check out the 1/2 sleeves with the sexy detailing! These sleeves could not be at a better length, IMHO. Plus, they feature cutouts and scallopped edges. The fabric is a masterfully done rumpled linen that crinkles when you just look at it (errr… rez it?).

My avatar is LIVING (errr… pixelating?) in this dress until further notice. You’ve all been duly warned, so don’t try to stop me when I head out to ice skate (in my brand new freebie ice skates, picked up at Sarah’s Freebie Warehouse, I might add) in the BEST LINEN MINIDRESS ever created.

No less fun is this recent release from Ivalde:

berthe.jpg

This dress is a sexy, different take on the spring togs that are currently flooding the Second Life fashion circuit. For one, obviously, there is not a pastel color in sight. But that doesn’t stop the Berthe dress (shown here in red) from emitting that very-in spring feel, with its flower motif and sarong skirt. If most spring ensembles are flirty and fun, Berthe cuts straight to the chase – she’s sexy and classy (a one-two punch in my book, for those of you keeping score. The dangling prim sarong tie is a particularly nice touch.

Here I went with a “classy” spring theme with Berthe, but you know she would be rocking in some diva-tastic boots and stockings.

Have I mentioned how much I adore spring yet?

Crab Pajamas April 22, 2007

pjs_003.jpg

Brand new at Jolie’s Boutique are loads of cute PJs, like these crab ones shown. Some seam problems on the side, but that’s typical of RL pajamas so it makes me love them EVEN MORE!

I’ve been feeling like I don’t want to get dressed, so these were perfect for a lazy Sunday. These crabs are just adorable, but I love the color scheme here too…

My favorite part is the top with the seamed waistband – so delightfully detailed! Four sets in different colors/themes.

Spring Blooms at Shiny Things April 21, 2007

I’m super tired, so I’ll do today’s post real quick and dirty.

leaf_003.jpg

Add a little sugar to your spice with these dainty offerings from Shiny Things. I’m wearing the necklace and earrings here (obviously), but there are also adorable anklets and a fabulous arm cuff available. They come in four colors, priced around 100L-200L.

These would obviously be an asset to any spring/fairy/earth goddess attire, but I like to slap them on with decidedly sexy, tough outfits, like the Boardroom Barracuda suit from Last Call here. Think flower child meets Jessica Rabbit. The leaf necklace looks particularly delectable when it dangles right between the on-display girls. It’s so freaking sexy that I want to engage in a marathon tree-hugging session. The PERFECT release for Earth Day.

Spring at Sassafras April 19, 2007

Filed under: Casual, Freebie, Outfit — aikerepine @ 10:45 pm

Sassafras has delightful hand-drawn clothing for spring – delicious and inexpensive, like a bag of Skittles. Unless you buy them at a movie theater. The Skittles, not the clothes.

Anyway, take a look at this darling sorbet of an outfit, named North Star:

sassafras1.jpg

I know it’s much more covered up than most of us like to be in Second Life, but it’s layered and you can mix in the requisite-exhibitionist pieces at will. The colors here are just too creamy perfect to pass up, and the cropped pants here are perfection, in my opinion. I love the big lightened cuffs, I love the front and back pockets, I love love LOVE the star belt. The entire outfit was $150L. Seriously.

Sassafras just released Canvas Kickers, a longer length short that I am in love with for spring:

sassafras2.jpg

The shorts come in a two pack for $100L, one with blue belt and one with pink belt. These shorts are long enough that you avoid the weird crotch thing that goes on with most pairs of shorts, but certainly aren’t long enough that they’re going to appear attached to a fanny-pack and behind a stroller in Disneyland.

Hats on to Relika April 18, 2007

Filed under: Accessories, Casual, Freebie, Outfit — aikerepine @ 9:00 pm

relika2.jpg

I found this small collection of adorable hats at a teensy-eensy shop called Relika. At $50L a piece, or $200L for the whole set of six, you don’t have an excuse to not buy one to at least try — even if your loyalties lie firmly in the anti-hat party.

Each hat has surprisingly plush textures with excellent little details, such as the cute pink flower on this hat in tweed. Unfortunately, each hat is default set at supersize – I am not an insane character in a children’s book by Lewis Carroll, so I prefer to size my hat down to a size better suited for an avatar’s head.

Relika also has a limited line of clothing available, including the (free!) shirt above (which comes in a pack of 3 different colors with matching scarves) and the super-fab tank, bolero and pant set below.

relika1.jpg

Polka dots in teal and brown! So excellent. These brown pants also have the cutest little back pockets with buttons that match the buttons on the bolero. My gripe here is that the bolero and tank both are on one combined layer – no mixing and matching here, which is a shame, because I adore that polka dot tank.

relika3.jpg

If you buy, the three hats pictured are the ones to snag – the others are not shrinkable due to super-tiny prim adornments (very cute flowers and ribbons) and I for one am not willing to place Godzilla’s discarded headwear anywhere near my oh so beautiful head. If you’ve got a monster fetish, then by all means go ahead and grab the whole pack.

[miw]: Beach Goes Chic April 17, 2007

Filed under: Accessories, Swimwear — aikerepine @ 8:16 pm

miw.jpg

Oh, my God.

To quote Cher (of Clueless, not Sonny &) I am completely, totally, butt-crazy in love with these new sunglasses and bikinis from [miw] (found at their new location, the beach).

The shades are billed as hand-painted, and they feature the cutest damn little flower right above the nose, with accent drops of colors all around the rims. These dainty little touches balance out the oversized frames, making the glasses more art-student than Olsen twin, and in my book, that is a very good thing. They come in a pack of four colors (green, blue, brown and purple) for 200L.

The suit is a classy version of your basic bikini – the prim ties settle nicely on the hips and between the girls. The extra ruffle detailing on the bust is another nice, unexpected touch. The coverage on the booty is a brazilan cut, but if that’s not enough coverage for you, it also comes with a miniscule little wrap. The extra coverage is just enough to keep inquiring eyes off your bum without sacrificing any leg candy.

What I like most about the suit though, is the color. While there are many fabulous bikinis out there, in array of colors, most nicely done suits are in bright colors and spandex-y textures. This suit offers burnt jewel tones with a fabric feel for a unique look that’s a little more subtle – but just as fabulous. As with the sunglasses, the suit comes in brown, blue, green and purple and sells individually for 100L. It’s a hot summer.

PixelDolls sale! April 15, 2007

Filed under: Casual, Outfit — aikerepine @ 5:28 pm

 pdollsmain.jpg

While the Port Seraphine location is being remodeled, all items at PixelDoll’s Chartreuse location are 50% off!

Time to stock up on colorful, luxurious basics!

This lumionous Cheongsam Shirt in Peach is normally a steal at $50L, but it is practically a crime not to pick up at least one at the sweet price of $25L. This shirt might have the highest neckline in SL women’s apparel stores, but it is still damn sexy and will literally brighten up any of your go-to outfits.

pdollstwo.jpg

These two staples are currently going for $37L a piece. On the left we have the Comfort top in Ocean. I still can’t get over how touchably soft the whole shirt looks, but this ain’t your grandmother’s cashmere twin-set. Perfect for a sexy snuggle date.

On the right is the Belted Suit in Cherry. It’s a swanky little slice of a suit with flat front pin striped pants and a charming satin brocade jacket (and in my opinion, you can’t find a better satin texture in all of Second Life than the ones you get at PixelDolls). Just simply gorgeous. I actually just wore this outfit to the Second Life Ballet (which is definitely worth a visit) because I didn’t want to stuff myself into a prim gown only to drag myself through lag. I think it worked out well – I didn’t look underdressed and I didn’t add fifty-five more prims to an already crowded sim.

Rummage and Lassitude & Ennui April 15, 2007

Filed under: Casual, Freebie, Jewellery — aikerepine @ 12:26 pm

rummageflower.jpg

Hurray for spring! If I have to even look at one more coat for the next 4 months, I might seriously consider killing every offender around me. Or at least, griefinng with the library pop-cap gun. NO MORE WINTER (can you tell I live in a place with very little sun IRL? It’s starting to get to me. Just a little.).

Ringing in the new season are these fun new releases from Rummage at Elephant Outfitters (the owners of the almost open Armidi!). The aptly-named FlowerSpill top above is the epitome of spring – sheer, cropped and sequiny. This shirt shows off the tummy, but has a fairly modest (for Second Life, anyway) neckline, which I applaud. I’m all for plunging necklines, but when you start taking away fabric at the bottom you should compensate for it somewhere, unless you’re REALLY desperate for some “hey sexy” attention. Top is $90L.

These adorable little cropped pants are tintable! They have perfectly placed little wrinkles and the caboose is yummy, yummy, yummy (SL kept crashing on me and I didn’t get a back picture, so you’ll have to trust me). Unfortunately, the ends of the pants kind of just end, bleeding away into your skin… but that’s a rather common problem I’ve come across and it isn’t really a deal breaker for me. Did I mention these are tintable? Love.

shoes.jpg

The earthy-chic shoes are a fantastic freebie find at Lassitude & Ennui. They offer six different combos of these sandals all for free at their flagship store: sandals in black, white and brown (shown here) with either silver or gold accent. I’ve seen similar designs in stores for upwards of $500L, and these are quite dandy with a natural shimmer and no annoying bling. If you haven’t been to that store, you should check it out — they’ve designed it kind of like a modern ruins, with crumbling brick walls. A unique take and some great accessories in there.

hautehippie3.jpg

This top is HauteHippie, also by Rummage. I love the little gold ring at the neck… it acts like built-in jewelry and is a little twist on the toga neck. I also love the colors used here – it’s a nice summery top that will transition well into fall with an added jacket or some boots.

The earrings here are another freebie set by Lassitude & Ennui. The sets include earrings and a necklace and come in gold, silver, or black. Once again, fabulous free gift offerings.

Sunday Morning Brunch April 15, 2007

Filed under: Freebie, Outfit — aikerepine @ 10:53 am

Ran across this cute freebie at Rebel Hope Designs:

deb1.jpg

This isn’t really what I would consider everyday wear, but I can definitely see myself settling down for brunch at an outdoor cafe in Second Life. Bring me a bellini, waiter!

The hat is the best part of this outfit. I didn’t edit it at all, and it fit jauntily well. The fabric on the hat and shirt is surprisingly well done and detailed for a free gift – in between the diamond seaming the charming satin fabric looks slightly pursed. Very nice touch.

Something very odd is going on with the skirt though. This was about the only pose I could find (using Sabrina Doolittle’s fabulous modeling studio, natch) where the drape of the skirt looked somewhat natural. The skirt is just weirdly distorted between the legs and I’m not a big fan of it.

Some of the skirt issues are resolved when you attach the included feather trimming:

debfeathers1.jpg

But I’m just not that into feathers (I had a traumatic run-in with a Big Bird impersonator as a kid - to this day I can’t even stand down comforters).

The rest of Rebel Hope’s store also isn’t really my style. They also offered a Retro freebie with afro. I’m telling you, don’t even go NEAR that gift bag. I’m still having nightmares.

Take me out to the ballgame April 14, 2007

layniewear.jpg

This fun lingerie set reminds me of baseball uniforms and it’s a freebie set!

It’s not the most detailed item of clothing I’ve seen, but I think it’s pretty damn good for a freebie. I especially love the back detailing on the corset – in my opinion, that’s what makes this set much better than your average freebie.

Plus, who doesn’t love striped socks?
